Man dies of head wound on Apple campus

A man was found dead at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino Wednesday morning, a Santa Clara County sheriff’s spokeswoman said.

Deputies responded to a report of a person down at the Apple campus at 1 Infinite Loop around 8:30 a.m., sheriff’s Sgt. Andrea Urena said outside the company’s headquarters.

Responding deputies found a man and determined he was dead, Urena said.

Investigators learned the man was an employee and believe the death was an isolated incident, she said.

There are no wanted suspects in connection with the death, according to Urena.

There is no threat to anyone at the campus or the public, she said.

The company’s headquarters is east of North De Anza Boulevard and south of Interstate Highway 280.

Santa Clara County firefighters had also responded to the scene around 8:45 a.m. on a medical call for a male suffering from a head wound, fire department spokeswoman Stephanie Stuehler said.

Crews reached the scene but the call was quickly canceled, Stuehler said.

The Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office has been called to the scene and will determine the manner and cause of death, Urena said.

Investigators are interviewing people at the campus, which is open for normal operations, according to Urena.
