Stephen Curry set for a Monday morning MRI

The Warriors front office are likely gnawing their fingers off in anticipation of Stephen Curry‘s MRI.

Golden State’s starting point guard and MVP is scheduled to undergo an MRI Monday morning, at which point Curry and the team will get a clearer picture regarding a knee injury he sustained during the final seconds of the first half of Game 4.

Curry slipped on a moist surface and his right knee seemed to move in a unique direction. Curry tried to walk it off, but was unable to return to the game.

Early indications are that Curry suffered an MCL sprain, and depending on the severity, he could miss anywhere from three to nine weeks.

The Warriors won 121-94 despite Curry’s absence during the second half.

Curry missed the previous two games with an ankle injury, and the team was being extra cautious. This does not seem like something where caution will keep Curry sidelined. This is potentially much more serious.

Shaun Livingston will continue to serve as the Warriors starting point man in Curry’s stead, and the bench will again play an intricate part on the outcome of the playoffs for the foreseeable future.

The team expects to release the results of Curry’s MRI some time Monday afternoon.
