Crash witnesses chase down fleeing driver in SoMa

San Francisco police arrested a man who tried to run after he crashed into two other men loading a grill into their truck in the city’s South of Market neighborhood on Wednesday night, according to police.

The crash was reported at 11:11 p.m. when a 25-year-old man speeding down Mission Street near Eighth Street in a red Hyundai Sonata crashed into a 39-year-old man and a 43-year-old man who were loading the grill into the back of a truck, police said.

The 39-year-old man was critically injured. Both were taken to a hospital.

The driver got out of the Hyundai and ran, but witnesses chased and held him until police arrived. The man, whose name is not yet being released, was arrested, police said.
