Officers conducted several interviews over the past few weeks based on several leads that someone had committed five auto burglaries in the Marina District, Russian Hill, the Financial District, and South of Market areas.
Police said 25-year-old Jacquar McHenry of Vallejo was arrested in Oakland last Wednesday after search warrants tied him to the auto break-ins.
Officers also discovered burglary tools during the search.
Police said McHenry was arrested on suspicion of five counts of auto burglary, three counts of felony possession of stolen property, two counts of possession of tools used to commit burglaries and one count of committing a felony while out on bail for a similar offense.
