Man who plunged off US-101 on scooter identified

A man who died last week when the scooter he was driving went over a highway barrier in San Francisco, causing him to fall between 35 and 40 feet below, has been identified as 38-year-old Stephane Jarbouai, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The crash occurred on April 6 at 11:23 p.m. on northbound U.S.

Highway 101 just south of the Ninth Street exit, California Highway Patrol officials said.

Jarbouai, a San Francisco resident, somehow lost control of the scooter as he was on a sweeping left curve, according to the CHP.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP officials said.
