A shooting that left two dead Wednesday in unincorporated Rodeo is being investigated as a murder-suicide, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting occurred around 2:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Sandy Cove Drive, sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said.
Responding deputies found a female victim suffering from gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. A man was on the street near the car, apparently suffering from a single gunshot wound, and a handgun was found close by.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office announced on Twitter that the shooting left two dead.
The decedents are believed to have been “in a dating relationship,” according to deputies.
No other information about the case was immediately available.
