Normal train service resumed between two East Bay BART stations this morning, after more than two weeks without train service in the area due to an electrical glitch.
Trains are running in both directions between the North Concord/Martinez and Pittsburg/Baypoint BART stations, BART officials said.
The regular train service will last all weekend and BART officials hope to continue the service through the Monday morning commute.
BART spokeswoman Denise Gonzalez said in a recorded message:
“This is part of our testing to reinsure we can return to regular service without experiencing any problems.”
Train service between the two stations has been halted ever since a voltage spike that damaged the propulsion systems of around 50 train cars.
The problem first reported the morning of March 16.
Since then, passengers have had to rely on shuttle buses to transport them between the two stations.
