Pacifica man gets 10 years for child porn possession

A Pacifica man was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison for possession of child pornography, federal prosecutors said.

Robert Spence II, 66, pleaded guilty on Dec. 1 to one count of possession of pornography depicting minors under the age of 12 engaging in sexually explicit conduct, prosecutors said.

Spence admitted to communicating with individuals in the Philippines to obtain child pornography.

Prosecutors said a search of his home by the Pacifica Police Department and the FBI uncovered more than 1,200 images and videos of child pornography, including images depicting the sexual abuse of children as young as 3 and 4 years old.

U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria handed down the sentence to Spence, who also faces a seven-year period of supervised release after his prison term. He was ordered to begin serving his sentence no later than May 5, prosecutors said.
