Horse trailer pins, kills 77-year-old

A 77-year-old man died Thursday in Sonoma County after getting pinned between a pasture gate and a trailer carrying two horses, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The man, whose name is not being released until his family is notified, was closing a pasture gate between 10:30 a.m. and 1:20 p.m. off of Dunbar Road near the unincorporated community of Kenwood.

He was driving a Dodge Ram truck and left the truck in reverse while he went back to the gate, according to CHP officials. The truck rolled backwards and pinned the man.

He died at the scene, and a passer-by discovered the body at 1:21 p.m., CHP officials said.
