Arguments appear to have led to a pair of overnight shootings Saturday in San Francisco’s Mission District that left three people hurt, including one victim facing life-threatening injuries.
Two people were injured at a gas station in the area of South Van Ness Avenue and 17th Street after an argument. The shooting was reported at about 6 a.m.
Four men were in a car getting gas at the station when they got into an argument with another man pumping gas, according to police.
The victims drove away and the suspect followed. He drove in front of the victims’ vehicle and cut it off, then opened fire at the vehicle, striking two victims, police said.
One man was hit in the shoulder by the gunfire and another was hit in the back. They went to a hospital to be treated for their injuries, which are not considered life-threatening, according to police.
The suspect, described as being in his mid 30s or early 40s, fled in his silver four-door sedan and remained at large as of Monday morning, police said.
Earlier Saturday morning, another man was shot and seriously injured shortly before 3 a.m. as he attempted to drive away from an separate argument near 21st and Shotwell. The victim, a 34-year-old man, was sitting in a vehicle with a friend when the shooting occurred, police said.
A male suspect walked up to the vehicle’s passenger side window and started to argue with the victim. The victim tried to drive away, but the suspect shot him in the chest before fleeing the scene, police said.
The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
