SSF police nab 107 in speeding crackdown

Police in South San Francisco issued 107 speeding citations during a two-day crackdown on speeding this week.

On Tuesday and Friday, officers with the South San Francisco Police Department conducted saturation patrols to watch for speeders.

During the patrols, officers targeted roadways in the city that are known complaint areas and have high traffic injury or fatality collision rates where speed was the primary cause of the incident, police said.

In total, police handed out 107 speeding citations during the two days. Thirty-nine citations were handed out on Tuesday and 68 were handed out on Friday.

Police said the drivers who were issued citations were traveling an average of 15 mph over the posted speed limit.
