Flash flood warning in Monterey County

A flash flood warning has been issued this morning for western central Monterey County, National Weather Service officials said.

The warning is in effect until 10:45 a.m.

At 8:48 a.m. radar showed thunderstorms were producing heavy rain, which could produce flash flooding with concurrent debris flows.

Locations that may experience flash flooding include Big Sur Village, Bixby Creek Bridge, Pfeiffer Beach, Garrapata State Park and Andrew Molera State Park.

Weather service officials urge people in the areas where flooding may occur to move to higher ground immediately to protect their lives.
