Police are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in San Jose Monday evening.
Police said officers responded at 6:15 p.m. to the area of South Third and Martha Streets on reports of a person stabbed.
Upon arrival, police said officers encountered several witnesses, the suspect, and two stabbing victims in front of a residence.
According to police the suspect was armed with a knife and the officer fired his duty weapon at the suspect. The suspect was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect’s identity will be withheld until next of kin is notified, police said.
Two victims, a male and a female, were taken to a hospital where the female was reported in stable condition, and the male victim was reported in critical condition, but is expected to survive, according to police.
Police said the officer will be placed on routine paid administrative leave while the homicide unit continues to investigate.
