Would-be peacemaker stabbed to death in Tenderloin fight

A fight between two females Thursday evening in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood ended with one person dead and another hospitalized, both after being stabbed.

At 7:41 p.m., officers responded to the corner of Turk and Leavenworth streets for a report of a fight and a stabbing, according to police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza.

Officers learned a physical altercation between two females had occurred.

When a male victim tried to intervene and stop the fight, a male suspect confronted him, stabbing the victim multiple times, Esparza said.

A 40-year-old woman who was involved in the fight was also stabbed, although it’s unclear who stabbed her.

The male suspect and other female involved in the altercation both fled the scene, according to Esparza.

The two victims were taken to a hospital where the male victim died and the female victim was treated for injuries not considered life-threatening.

Police currently don’t have any suspect information and are continuing to investigate the incident, Esparza said.
