A suspect who crashed through a gate onto a horse stable property in San Jose Wednesday morning injured a police officer, police said.
An officer found the suspect outside the entrance to the horse stables at 2525 Kenoga Drive at 6:56 a.m., according to police. As the officer approached, the driver drove through the locked front gate onto the property.
The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, drove recklessly on the grounds and hit a pole. Another officer arrived, tried to make contact with the suspect, but he accelerated in reverse and hit a marked patrol car, police said.
The suspect remained in the car, acting bizarrely and ignored commands to get out. The officers eventually forced their way into the car and took the suspect into custody.
One officer was struck by the suspect’s car during the confrontation and was taken to a hospital, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening. Police did not respond to requests for clarification about how that officer was injured.
Police planned to book the suspect into Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of assault on a peace officer, trespassing and vandalism.
