Tiburon ferry shuts down for repairs

The Blue and Gold Fleet’s ferry service between Tiburon and San Francisco has been suspended until March 5 for extensive maintenance and repairs to its floating dock in Tiburon, the private ferry operator announced Thursday.

The commuter weekday ferry service will be replaced with a “bus bridge” that departs at the regular morning and evening times from downtown Tiburon and the Ferry Building.

Morning bus service from the Ferry Building to Tiburon and evening bus service from Tiburon to the Ferry Building will be 10-15 minutes later than usual, Blue and Gold Fleet said in a news release.

Mid-day and weekend bus service will be suspended.

Bus fare is $5 each way and commute ferry tickets will be accepted on the bus.

Carolyn Horgan, president of Blue and Gold Fleet said:

“We will continue to provide buses at our regular commute times and thank you for your understanding.”

Blue and Gold Fleet has applied to the California Public Utilities Commission to transfer ferry service top the Golden Gate Bridge District’s Golden Gate ferry service.

Blue and Gold Fleet said it has been more than 20 years since the floating dock was removed from the Bay for maintenance and repair.
