A man won $1 million recently with a California Lottery Deluxe 7’s Playbook Scratchers ticket sold in Castro Valley and he has plans to spend the money, lottery officials said today.
Steven Gil bought the winning ticket at the Union 76 gas station at 2445 Castro Valley Blvd. The store that sold him the ticket will receive $5,000, according to lottery officials.
In a statement, Gil said he shared his news right away:
“I called my dad and said, ‘Hey guess what? I just won a million dollars.”
His father didn’t believe him until his father double-checked the six pages of the game, lottery officials said.
Gil said he wants to buy a house, a Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and send his son to the college of his choice.
Gil said he plays the game regularly and usually wins another ticket or wins some money.
Lottery officials urge customers to play responsibly and ask anyone with a gambling problem, or who knows someone who does, to get help at (800) GAMBLER.
