Police said a “prolific” graffiti artist who had tagged many locations in eastern Contra Costa County was arrested on Monday night when he was caught tagging a water tower in Antioch.
At 9:27 p.m. Monday, Antioch police officers were in the area of Fulton Shipyard Road for an unrelated incident when they spotted the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Adam Foster, police said. Foster, a Bethel Island resident, was allegedly tagging a water tower.
Foster fled on foot when officers attempted to make contact with him, police said. He was taken into custody shortly thereafter.
Police said Foster admitted to cutting a fence to access the water tower before spray painting the zodiac symbol for “Leo” on the tower. His backpack apparently contained spray paint cans and wire cutters.
Later, Foster also allegedly admitted to tagging at least 11 different locations in Antioch and Oakley. Police said he’s caused several thousand dollars in damage.
Foster was arrested on suspicion of vandalism and was booked into the county jail.
