Mother, teen cited after alleged boozy parties

A Larkspur mother and her daughter have been cited separately for hosting a house party where alcohol was available to minors, the Central Marin Police Authority said.

The mother was cited for violating the social host accountability ordinance early Saturday, and her 17-year-old daughter was cited early today, police said.

Police cited the mother after they were called to a report of a loud party around 1:10 a.m. Saturday at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Lower Via Casitas in Larkspur, police said.

Police said the teens at the party were noisy, smoking and drinking and the mother answered the door only after repeated knocks on the door, police said.

The mother did not allow police inside, but officers saw teens drinking and smelled marijuana, police said. The mother was cited for violating the social host accountability ordinance. Several juveniles were released to their parents, and three 18-year-old party-goers took a cab home, police said.

Officers responded to a loud party at the same apartment around 1:40 a.m. today where the teen daughter was hosting a party while her mother was out of town, police said.

The teen also was cited for violating the ordinance, police said.

The first violation of the Larkspur ordinance carries a $750 fine, an $850 fine for a second violation and $1,000 for any subsequent violations.
