The popular Titans of Mavericks surf competition in Half Moon Bay will be held this Friday, event organizers said.
The one-day competition is held only when surf conditions are suitable, so while it has happened in 2014 and 2013, it did not happen last year or in 2012 and 2011.
The competition is invitation-only. This year, 24 surfers worldwide have been picked to take on the massive swells off of Half Moon Bay.
The contest was founded in 1999 and typically draws thousands of spectators to the area.
