Arriving officers confirmed the dead body was of a woman who appeared to have been in the car for about a week.
A woman’s body was found Wednesday in parked car at a Walmart Supercenter parking lot in Salinas, police said Friday.
Officers responded to a report from a store employee of a dead body found in a car parked at the store, located at 1800 N. Main St., around 5 p.m., police Cmdr. Vince Maiorana said.
When officers arrived they confirmed that the body was of a woman who appeared to have been in the car for about a week, Maiorana said.
The body wasn’t found sooner because the vehicle had dark tinted windows and a reflective shade covering the windshield, according to Maiorana.
The Monterey County coroner’s office was called to the scene to take custody of the body, which was only identified as a woman in her 20s, Maiorana said.
The death doesn’t appear to be suspicious and investigators are awaiting autopsy results from the coroner’s office, he said.
