Super Bowl City draws record BART crowds

As Super Bowl City in San Francisco is in full swing, BART officials said they have already experienced record-breaking ridership in the last two days.

Thursday marked the transit agency’s fifth busiest day ever, with 486,596 passengers boarding trains throughout the Bay Area, according to BART officials.

Wednesday was also a record-breaking day, as it marked BART’s seventh busiest day, with 471,663 passengers.

BART’s busiest day ever fell on Halloween on Oct. 31, 2012 when the San Francisco Giants held their World Series Victory Parade in downtown San Francisco. A total of 568,061 passengers rode BART that day, BART officials said.

On an average weekday in the past seven months, about 431,332 passengers use the transit system, according to BART officials.
