Deputies responded at 9:29 a.m. to 84 Clausen Road in the unincorporated community of Las Lomas on a report of a cockfight.
Deputies were alerted to a heavily wooded area by the sound of a shotgun blast, according to sheriff’s officials.
About 50 to 60 suspects fled the area when deputies approached.
Deputies recovered 39 live roosters, five dead roosters and cockfighting equipment at the fight scene, sheriff’s officials said.
