It’s been his back, but now Steve Kerr is officially back.
After rehabbing multiple offseason surgeries related to a ruptured disc, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is returning to the helm of the defending champs.
The team made the announcement during Friday’s shoot-around prior to a home tilt versus the Indiana Pacers. After thanking about everyone near the top of the Golden State hierarchy, Kerr said:
“I’ve known for the past couple of months that I wasn’t ready. And after this past week or 10 days or so, I’ve just felt like this is finally turning in the right direction and now is the time.”
Kerr doesn’t care to share some of the details of his injury, but noted that he’s seen a number of doctors and that the process has been confusing in a lot of ways and that he’s been feeling better and better over the last few weeks.
Still, though, Kerr says can’t pinpoint any turning point, and that the decision to return was left up to him only.
Kerr also said that he believes that he is back for good:
“My back is fine. My back has been fine for quite some time. The symptoms that I’ve had have been more headaches and things like that.”
