Tiburon ferry to halt for repairs

Blue & Gold Fleet ferry service between Tiburon and San Francisco will be suspended in February for two weeks as repairs are made to the floating dock in Tiburon, ferry service officials said Wednesday.

Maintenance and repairs will begin Feb. 16 and a bus bridge will replace the ferry service. Commuter buses will depart on the same morning and evening schedules from Tiburon and the Ferry Building.

Commuter service to Tiburon from the Ferry Building in the morning and vice versa in the evening will depart 10 to 15 minutes later.

A ferry service representative will assist passengers at the boarding site for the buses.

Ferry service is also being suspended during the middle of the day as well as the weekend.

Blue & Gold Fleet President Carolyn Horgan said in a statement:

“We regret any inconvenience to our passengers. … However, the maintenance of the Tiburon float is critical to safe, reliable, and responsible ferry operations.”

The float has not been removed from the Bay for maintenance in 20 years and the work is being done to ensure ferry service is safe and reliable.

Maintenance has already been done at the docks at Pier 39 and Pier 41.

The cost for the bus ride is $5 each way and ferry tickets will be accepted on buses.

Commuter tickets between Tiburon and the Ferry Building will be accepted on the Sausalito and Larkspur ferries, ferry service officials said.
