Was pedestrian killed by tour bus crossing against light?

San Francisco police are investigating whether a man fatally struck by a tour bus in San Francisco’s Lower Pacific Heights neighborhood this weekend was crossing against the light.

The tour bus was turning right on to Post Street from northbound Divisadero when the collision occurred around 1 p.m., according to police.

The man, identified by the medical examiner’s office as Pieter Roell, 82, was in the crosswalk at the time of the collision, but investigators are now working to determine if he was crossing against the red light, police Officer Carlos Manfredi said today.

The driver cooperated with investigators and was not arrested or detained, Manfredi said.
