The San Francisco 49ers Thursday named Chip Kelly as the team’s new head coach.
49ers CEO Jed York announced the move on Twitter this morning by writing:

Kelly was the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles for three years before being fired by the team in December. He also previously coached at the University of Oregon.
Kelly will replace former head coach Jim Tomsula, who the 49ers released after just one year following a disappointing 5-11 season.
