Cops replace family’s stolen holiday gifts

A Fremont family got a surprise from police officers Thursday after their home had been burglarized the night before, leaving them with no Christmas gifts.

On Wednesday evening, officers responded to a burglary at a home on Northwind Terrace, according to police.

When officers arrived, they learned the home had been burglarized and that Christmas gifts for the family’s four children had been stolen, police said.

The children appeared visibly upset and the incident inspired officers to hatch a plan to replace the children’s gifts.

The officers then put together funds and the next day, an officer went shopping for the gifts, according to police.

Later that night, officers showed up at the family’s home and surprised them with the gifts. The family was very appreciative and the children each wrote a card for the officers, police said.

According to police, one of the children said to an officer:

“This was the best Christmas ever!”
