Concord preps dog parks for shutdown

Concord’s two dog parks will be closed for at least two months early next year for annual maintenance work, city officials said Monday.

Both the Baldwin Dog Park at 2700 Parkside Circle and the Newhall Dog Park at 1351 Newhall Parkway will be closed for a period of eight to 10 weeks, city officials said.

The Baldwin park will be closed beginning Jan. 4, while the Newhall park will be closed beginning Feb. 29.

City officials said the maintenance work will consist of aerating, seeding, fertilizing and adding mulch to the turf areas of the parks.

City officials said they are aiming for the work to be done in the shortest period of time possible to limit inconvenience for residents.

The two dog parks are consistently the most visited amenities in Concord’s park system, city officials said.

For more information on the closures, residents can call the city’s park maintenance division at (925) 671-3444.
