A single-engine plane out of Reid-Hillview Airport in San Jose went missing this afternoon near Bakersfield, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said.
The single-engine Piper PA32 disappeared from radar at about 4 p.m. south of Bakersfield about 10 miles, FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said.
The FAA has begun the search and rescue process, Gregor said.
