Two brothers and Sonoma County Jail inmates briefly escaped the Main Adult Detention Facility in Santa Rosa Tuesday afternoon, according to sheriff’s deputies.
Around 4:45 p.m. the inmates were being loaded onto a bus when they fled the scene on foot, running into a nearby apartment complex.
Sheriff’s deputies searched the area with assistance from the Santa Rosa Police Department and a California Highway Patrol helicopter.
One inmate was found hiding in the bushes and surrendered. The other was located hiding in a nearby shrubbery by a K9 unit. He suffered minor injuries from the dog in the process, according to deputies.
The inmates have been identified as 26-year-old Joshua Feddern-Wiles and 30-year-old Christopher Feddern-Wiles, both of Santa Rosa.
Both brothers pleaded guilty to unrelated charges earlier Tuesday, deputies said. Christopher was being held on burglary charges and Joshua was being held on domestic violence charges.
Both brothers are being held without bail.
They’re scheduled to appear in court again Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
