A rescue team was dispatched to the Elkhorn Slough in the Prunedale area of unincorporated Monterey County Saturday morning to assess the condition of a stranded dolphin, according to a spokesperson for the Marine Mammal Center.
Information about the dolphin’s condition was not immediately available, according to Laura Sherr from the Marine Mammal Center.
The dolphin was first spotted Friday morning in the waters of the Elkhorn Slough Preserve, according to Rebecca Dmytryk from Wildlife Emergency Services.
It became beached Friday afternoon, according to Dmytryk, and remained in the slough this morning.
Further details about the rescue operation were not immediately available.
