A Concord police patrol vehicle carrying an officer and a canine collided with a pickup truck Sunday evening, according to police.
Concord police Cpl. Chris Blakely said the patrol vehicle was traveling on eastbound Willow Pass Road at 7:04 p.m. when it collided with a pickup truck coming from the opposite direction.
Blakely said the truck’s driver was attempting to turn into a gas station at 3400 Willow Pass Road when the collision occurred:
“The collision looked really bad at the scene. … Thankfully, no one was hurt.”
Both the officer and pickup driver declined medical treatment, but the patrol vehicle sustained major damage, Blakely said.
The canine was brought to a veterinary hospital but was not reportedly harmed in the crash.
Blakely said the incident is being investigated. Drugs or alcohol are not being considered factors in the crash.
