Novato police sergeant charged with embezzlement

A Novato police sergeant has been charged with embezzling money from the Novato Police Officers Association, Marin County prosecutors said.

Daniel Jenner allegedly took $950 or more from the association between April 1, 2010 and Nov. 30, 2012, according to the complaint filed by District Attorney Ed Berberian.

Jenner is scheduled to be arraigned in Marin County Superior Court Dec. 7. His attorney Erin Dervin did not return a phone call or email for comment this afternoon.

As a clerk, agent and servant of the Novato Police Officers Association Jenner appropriated the money for his own use, the complaint states.

The alleged embezzlement was not discovered until Jan. 15, 2015, and the Novato Police Officers Association or law enforcement agency had knowledge of the alleged embezzlement before that date, according to the complaint.
