A PG&E representative and firefighters responded to a gas main break this afternoon in San Jose, a PG&E spokesman and a fire department dispatcher said.
The break at Meadowlands Lane and San Felipe Road was first reported to fire officials at 3:42 p.m., the dispatcher said.
The first call to PG&E officials came in at 3:52 p.m., spokesman J.D. Guidi said.
Guidi said a vehicle hit a set of poles which bent and caused the break near Silver Oak Elementary School.
Guidi said the PG&E representative on site doesn’t yet know the size of the pipe that is broken, but it may be anywhere from 2 to 4 inches in size.
No one has been evacuated, Guidi and the fire dispatcher said. But access to the area is prohibited, Guidi said.
