Officers responded at 5:11 p.m. to a call of a pedestrian walking onto southbound Interstate Highway 880 near state Highway 237.
Responding officers located an unresponsive man in his 60s on the highway suffering from what appeared to be wounds suffered from a collision with a vehicle, according to the CHP.
The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was from Los Gatos.
Officers said the pedestrian was crossing the freeway when a white Toyota Corolla that was traveling south on the freeway struck him.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the collision and is cooperating with the investigation, according to the CHP.
Two lanes of the highway were closed for about two hours as officers investigated the incident.
