A man was shot on Interstate Highway 80 in San Pablo Monday afternoon, according to police, causing the California Highway Patrol to issue a Sig-Alert for the westbound side of the roadway while police investigated the shooting.
San Pablo police responded to assist the CHP with a car crash and possible shooting on Highway 80 near San Pablo Road at 4:20 p.m.
On the scene, investigators found a car stopped on the shoulder with a man inside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition, according to police.
CHP officials reported at 5:10 p.m. that there would be delays on Highway 80 near San Pablo Dam Road due to police activity. A Sig-alert was issued at 5:38 p.m., while San Pablo police investigated the incident.
CHP officials announced the cancellation of the Sig-alert at 7:22 p.m.
Further details about the victim were not immediately available.
