Crash scatters nails across Dumbarton Bridge

A five-car crash left thousands of nails in the eastbound lanes of the Dumbarton Bridge in Menlo Park Monday morning, Menlo Park Fire Protection District Chief Harold Schapelhouman said.

The crash was reported shortly before 7:30 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of the bridge, according to the California Highway Patrol.

One person suffered minor injuries in the crash, which spilled several thousand nails onto the roadway, Schapelhouman said.

The crash is blocking the No. 2 and 3 eastbound lanes of the bridge, according to the CHP.
