Two quakes shake San Ramon

Two small earthquakes were reported within minutes from each other late Saturday night near San Ramon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The first earthquake struck at 11:32 p.m. with a 3-magnitude and the second earthquake struck at 11:38 p.m. and had a 3.1-magnitude, according to the USGS.

Both quakes struck about a mile east of San Ramon, USGS officials said.

The earthquakes are among hundreds of small ones that have struck in and around the area since last month. The majority of them have been occurring along the Calaveras Fault, which intersects with the Hayward Fault, according to the USGS.
