Police have closed Mission Boulevard in Fremont this morning following a traffic accident in which a driver crashed their vehicle into a pole and then fled the scene on foot.
Around 2:15 a.m., police responded to a single-vehicle crash, happening on Mission Boulevard at the Sullivan underpass, according to Sgt. Frank Tarango.
The driver had been driving southbound when the driver somehow lost control of the vehicle and struck a power pole, knocking downing lines.
The vehicle ended up overturned and the driver fled on foot, according to Tarango.
The driver has not been located and remains outstanding, Tarango said.
PG&E responded to the scene to investigate the downed lines.
Mission Boulevard was expected to reopen around 9 a.m. this morning, according to Tarango, with traffic being diverted to Niles Boulevard in the meantime.
