One person was killed and another suffered major injuries in a multi-vehicle collision on state Highway 1 south of Pescadero Wednesday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at 6:58 p.m. in the vicinity of Highway 1 and Bean Hollow Road, near Lake Lucerne in unincorporated San Mateo County.
One victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:12 p.m., according to CHP Officer Damian Cistaro.
A medical helicopter was called to the scene for another victim moments earlier at 7:09 p.m. That victim suffered major injuries but was still thought to be alive as of 10:15 p.m., according to Cistaro.
A Sig-alert was issued for both directions of Highway 1 at 7:32 p.m., but personnel on scene had opened the roadway up to one-way traffic control by 10:19 p.m., Cistaro said.
Further details about the circumstances of the crash could not be immediately confirmed.
