A Ferrari seemed to roll itself away from a gas station after the car caught fire Sunday evening in Martinez, a fire battalion chief said.
The first call to report the fire came in at 7:02 p.m. at the Chevron gas station at 1250 Morello Avenue, a fire dispatcher said.
“As far-fetched as that may sound” that’s what happened, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Mike Eglite said it’s:
“… almost like a scene out of Back to the Future.”
Eglite said what probably happened is the drive train disengaged after the car caught fire. The Ferrari rolled down a slight grade, across two lanes of Morello Avenue and onto the center median before firefighters extinguished the fire, he said.
