A 25-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg while apparently inside an illegal gambling establishment in San Francisco’s Mission District early Saturday morning, police said.
At about 6 a.m. Saturday, in the 2900 block of Mission Street near 26th Street, multiple gunshots were heard outside the establishment, according to officers.
One round apparently went through the front door and struck the victim on a lower part of his left leg, according to police.
A suspect apparently fled the area and has not been arrested, according to officers.
Police said the victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with gunshot wounds that are not considered life-threatening.
Officers have not said if any arrests were made in connection with the illegal gambling establishment or described a motive for the shooting.
In June 2014, a similar incident involving gambling and gunfire occurred. In that incident, a 26-year-old man was shot in the thigh over a gambling debt in the Tenderloin.
That man apparently got into an argument with a suspect over a gambling debt and during the argument the suspect pulled out a gun and shot him in the leg, police said.
