San Ramon quake swarm continues with 3.1 shaker

A preliminary 3.1 magnitude earthquake centered about a mile from San Ramon shook the Bay Area Sunday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake struck at 3:31 p.m. along the Calaveras Fault, which intersects the Hayward Fault, USGS officials said.

This afternoon’s quake is just one of many that have struck the area in roughly the last 10 days, according to USGS officials.

A 3.4 preliminary magnitude quake centered near San Ramon struck Thursday at 6:10 a.m., USGS officials said.

People as far away as Vallejo and Sunnyvale felt the temblor, according to USGS officials.
