A fast-acting and observant employee at an Antioch grade school may have stopped an alleged kidnapping in progress on her way to work Friday morning, according to police.
Officers responded to the 3000 block of G Street around 7:35 a.m. Friday on report of a possible kidnapping.
A woman had noticed an 11-year-old girl in the front seat of a vehicle with an unknown man, and recognized her as a student at Sutter Elementary School, according to police.
Investigators determined that while the girl had been walking to school she was lured over to a vehicle by Santiago Salazar, a 51-year-old resident of Brentwood.
Salazar allegedly grabbed the girl by the wrist and pulled her into the vehicle. That’s when the school employee intervened, blocking Salazar’s vehicle in with her own, police said.
Salazar was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping.
Further details were not immediately available.
