Car strikes 87-year-old on Van Ness

An elderly woman was seriously injured Tuesday night when struck by a car at Van Ness Avenue and Broadway, according to San Francisco police.

The 87-year-old woman was crossing Van Ness Avenue in the crosswalk around 7:30 p.m. when she was struck by a driver in a white Toyota Prius who was turning left from Broadway, according to police.

The woman was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening head injuries. Police could not be reached today for an update on her condition.

The driver, a 35-year-old woman, remained at the scene. No arrest was made at the time of the incident.
