Medical emergency grounds SFO-bound flight

A medical emergency involving a United Airlines crew member grounded a San Francisco-bound flight from Houston in Albuquerque this morning, according to San Francisco International Airport officials.

United Airlines Flight 1614 departed from George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston at 7:20 a.m. Central Daylight Time, according to the airline’s website.

Because of the medical emergency, the flight diverted from its route to land at Albuquerque International Sunport at 8:34 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time, where the plane, a Boeing 787 carrying about 200 passengers, remained for a little over three hours before resuming its trip to San Francisco.

According to the United Airlines website, Flight 1614 is scheduled to arrive at San Francisco International Airport at 1:06 p.m.

No further information regarding the medical emergency was immediately available.
