A 72-year-old man in a wheelchair suffered critical injuries after being hit by a vehicle Saturday afternoon in Martinez, police said.
Officers responded at 4:12 p.m. to the collision at the intersection of Alhambra Avenue and Virginia Hills Drive, according to police.
Officers found the man lying in the road, police said.
Medics took him to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek where he was in critical but stable condition as of 8 p.m. Saturday night, according to police.
Officers spoke with witnesses of the collision and found the suspect in the 500 block of Blue Ridge Drive, police said.
Officers arrested Irene Wong, 76, and took her to the Martinez Police Department, according to police.
Wong is cooperating with police and it doesn’t appear she was intoxicated.
