A resident in a three-story wooden apartment building at 1721 Clement St. reported smoke in the building at 7:40 p.m., according to fire department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge.
Fire crews were able to see some smoke from the front, and found the fire at the basement level between the walls of that building and a neighboring building, Talmadge said.
The fire was brought under control at 9:26 p.m.
There were no injuries reported. Talmadge did not have information on displacement or damage.
