Dead whale washes up in Bay near Fremont

A dead whale washed up near Fremont Thursday morning, according to the Marine Mammal Center.

The whale carcass was found near Coyote Hills Regional Park sometime Thursday morning, according to center spokeswoman Laura Sherr.

As of this morning, the whale remains offshore, Sherr said.

Because the carcass is so far out, Marine Mammal Center employees are waiting for tide conditions in the area to improve before retrieving the carcass, Sherr said.
